Conduct cutting-edge research focused on how biological sex shapes neurophysiology and behavior in the context of neuropsychiatric conditions. Perform routine lab maintenance tasks (e.g., solution preparation, dishwashing/autoclaving), assist with management of the mouse colony, and execute experiments in cultured cells, ex vivo brain slices, and mice using molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques.
Characterized Duties and Responsibilities- Research:
Perform research activities based on protocols developed by other research staff or principal investigator, read and review articles as directed, develop hypotheses, and discuss findings with the research team. - Experiment and Investigation:
Read protocols, plan and prepare daily activities, set up and operate research materials or equipment, adhere to safety and compliance guidelines, collect data, track progress, and maintain quality assurance protocols. - Data Management:
Track and analyze data, enter data for reports, maintain records of methods used, and prepare materials for reports. - Administrative and Project Management:
Summarize project progress in reports to the research team and assist in documenting compliance with safety and regulatory guidelines. - Facilities and Equipment Management:
Assist in the preparation, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory and facility equipment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.
- Ability to work independently while being reliable, efficient, and effective with time management.
- Experience with Microsoft Office.
- Prior coursework in molecular/cellular biology, physiology, and/or neuroscience.
- Previous experience working with animals.
- IACUC knowledge and familiarity with up-to-date compliance rules and regulations.
- Experience with basic biochemical techniques: PCR, western blotting.
$13/hour
Time Commitment10-20 hours/week during semesters, up to 40 hours/week during summer.
