Staff Nurse - Enterprise Staffing Pool - Adult Acute Care Tier 2 Night Shifts

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking skilled staff nurses for their Enterprise Staffing Pool (Tier
2) for Adult Acute Care Services. These staff nurses will circulate several services to cover acute care units at University of Iowa Health Care University Campus, UI Health Care Downtown Campus, and UI Health Care North Liberty Campus.

• Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness
• Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations
• Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings
• Develops patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions; prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes
• Implements patient care plans according to patient priorities, including interventions identified through nursing diagnoses; documents/reports interventions and patient/family response
• Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plans
• Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care
• Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff; follows universal precautions
• Just in time assignments (cover sign offs, census flexing)
• Able to anticipate 4-12 hours in an area
• Able to potentially float within one campus every 4 hours
• Days, nights, and weekend rotating opportunities
• Holiday and weekend requirements
• Float within specialty between any of the hospitals/clinics (once oriented with appropriate competencies)

Percent of Time: 60% - 90% (24 - 36 hours per week)

Schedule: Night shifts, every third weekend and rotating holidays

Location: Iowa City, IA

SEIU Pay Plan: PD20

• Education:
  An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
• Required Qualifications:
  • 2 or more years of current experience with Adult Intermediate Care/ICU
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members
  • General computer skills, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
• Desired Qualifications:
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired
  • If a BSN is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
  • A minimum of 2 years of inpatient nursing experience, preferably within the last 5 years, is highly desired
