Position: Registered Nurse- Inpatient Staff
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

This Inpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and/or supervising direct patient care. This RN is also responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistant, as appropriate. The RN will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies, and providing quality improvement and outcome.

Major duties include, but are not limited to:

* Provides competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting.

* Administers medication and procedures per established policies and guidelines.

* Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team

* Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement.

* Applies clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision-making, and evaluating outcomes within the immediate practice setting.

* Improves Veteran/patient driven care by resolving experience issues such as coordination of care, timeliness or process issues, common themes of dissatisfaction, or environment of care concerns for the immediate practice setting.

* Leads teams, contributes to team conferences, and actively collaborates in all phases of patient care planning. Successfully integrates objectives, opportunities, and resources.

* Expands knowledge base and practice evaluation through mentoring, precepting, and/or teaching to improve outcomes in the immediate practice setting.

* Applies evidence-based practice/research resulting in improved outcomes in the immediate practice setting.

* The incumbent consistently communicates and treats the Veteran and as appropriate the Veteran's family, caregiver and/or significant other, the Veteran representatives, visitors to VA facilities, all VA staff, and other customers in a courteous, tactful, and respectful manner.

Pay:
Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards

Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

Work Schedule:

Day Shifts 7:30am-8:00pm, rotating weekends/holidays or Night Shifts 7:30pm to 8:00am, rotating weekends/holidays.

72/80 Schedule Eligibility:
After successful completion of unit orientation (40 hours per week required until successful completion of orientation).;
Adherence to hospital policy and procedures, including leave policy required to qualify for 72/80.12 hour tours required with 72/80 schedules. Further details will be discussed during interview process.
