Staff Nurse – Foot Team
University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing seeks a Staff Nurse to support the Foot Team at the Medical Center North Liberty.
Position SummaryAssess patients’ nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care, and integrate nursing theory and research into clinical practice. Provide leadership to maintain high patient care standards.
Duties- Apply nursing theory to assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
- Assess patient health care preferences and expectations.
- Collaboratively coordinate the continuum of care across settings.
- Develop patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychosocial, educational, and socioeconomic factors that prescribe interventions to attain expected outcomes.
- Implement patient care plan according to patient priorities, documenting interventions and patient/family response.
- Collaborate and integrate contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
- Implement nursing interventions according to unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Follow universal precautions.

ScheduleMonday‑Friday 8:00‑16:30 with 2‑3 late shifts per month.
SalaryMinimum $61,183 at 100% effort, commensurate with experience and percent effort.

Education- Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Master of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader, or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) – required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
- General computer skills.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa – required by date of hire.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing – highly desired.
- Active enrollment in a BSN program – if Baccalaureate degree not yet obtained.
