OverviewThe University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Staff Nurse (RN) for the Surgical & Trauma Care Unit (3RC) in the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) division. 3RC is a 48-bed adult surgical and trauma unit providing care for patients with trauma, tumor removal, reconstructive joint surgery, spine surgery, hand surgery, foot surgery, amputations, sports injuries, skeletal traction, and wound care.
In April 2023, the unit expanded to a 48-bed adult surgical unit focusing on orthopedics, trauma, and spine patients. Our team is committed to delivering patient-centered care that addresses both the physiological and psychological aspects of illness or injury, combining excellent clinical skills with compassionate care to achieve quality of life for patients and families.

Responsibilities- Provide care for patients who experience trauma, orthopedic, spinal, and surgical needs as described above.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Demonstrate strong clinical skills and compassionate care in a fast-paced surgical/trauma setting.
- Percent of Time: 60% (24 hours/weekend)

- Regular salaried position located in Iowa City, Iowa

- Education Required:
An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required - Experience
Required:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members; general computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel; current Iowa nursing license by date of hire - Desirable
Qualifications:
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is highly desired; active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable if not yet obtained
