Permanent full-time position available
Wage: $57,574.40 – $73,673.60 (starting wage contingent upon experience)
Hours:
Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm, on call every 7 weeks
Under general direction, inspects, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs all hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical equipment at wastewater treatment facilities. Performs specialized construction, modifications and installation of equipment and structures.
Minimum Education , Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other:Associate’s degree from an accredited educational institution; or two years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in wastewater treatment plant.
State of Iowa DNR Grade I Wastewater Operator certificate. State of Iowa DNR Grade II Wastewater Operator certificate required within 2 years of appointment. Forklift certification required within two years of appointment. Satisfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa commercial driver’s license instruction permit upon first day in position. Valid State of Iowa Class A commercial driver’s license with air brake and tank endorsements within 6 months of hire.
Meet federal drug testing requirements. Requires a pre‑employment drug screen. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check. Must live within 25 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City, Iowa within one year of appointment to the position.
Associate’s degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or three years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Backflow prevention certification. Confined space entry training.
Entry‑level Driver Training (ELDT) for employees who need to obtain a required CDL is provided by the City. Employees are provided paid time to complete ELDT and to take required CDL tests. Information on how to obtain an Iowa CDL including the CDL manual and practice test are available at .
