Overview
The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking Patient Care Technicians in the Surgery Specialty Services Unit (2RC) to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses. This unit is part of the Medical Surgical Services (MSS) Division.
Unit DescriptionThe Adult Acute Care Unit is a 30-bed, medical surgical unit. We serve a variety of patient populations including the Family Medicine service along with specialized surgical patients. The surgical patients include otolaryngology (ENT), oral surgery, and plastic reconstructive surgery. We are able to provide our patients with all private rooms, which allows for a more comfortable experience for both patients and their families.
We have a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team that helps to provide excellent patient care to all patients on our unit. Our goal is to provide each patient an individualized care plan, and provide them the support and care they need and deserve.
- Diabetes
- Respiratory diseases
- Post-cancer or trauma free flaps and rotational flaps for facial reconstruction
- Mandible fractures
- Hernia repairs
- Breast reconstruction
- Percent of Time: 100% - 40 hours per week
- Schedule:
Night shifts, Sunday - Wednesday, mixture of 10-hour and 12-hour shifts, with a weekend and holiday rotation - Location:
