University of Iowa Health Care's Department of Food & Nutrition seeks a Behavioral Health Clinical Dietitian to provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling for adult and geriatric inpatients on the behavioral health units. The role involves teaching dietetic students, participating in multidisciplinary teams, and developing nutritional components of care.
Responsibilities- Provide quality patient care including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plans appropriate for patients.
- Educate dietetic students through on-the-job training, evaluation, and support.
- Assess nutrition status and counsel patients on appropriate diet.
- Participate as part of the medical team addressing patients' food habits and needs, and attend health team rounds concerning patient care.
- Assist in implementation of studies and short-term projects.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Participate as an active member of departmental and hospital committees.
- Review and analyze production, maintenance of standards, costs, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress and control costs.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
- Exercise functional supervision over Diet Clerks.
- Assist other dietitians as needed.
- A Master's Degree or equivalent education and experience.
- Registered prior to January 01, 2024, a Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition or Dietetics is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
- Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.
- Master's Degree in Food and Nutrition or Dietetics or equivalent education and experience.
- Five years of clinical nutrition experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated competency of patient care in pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations across a wide range of medical conditions in the inpatient setting.
- Experience in making enteral and parenteral recommendations and selecting appropriate formulas.
- Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
- Licensure by the State of Iowa is required.
- Salary: $57,000 – Commensurate with experience.
- Pay Grade:
Clinical Dietitian I – 5, Clinical Dietitian II – 7. - Regular salaried position located in Iowa City, Iowa.
