Position: Clinical Technician I - Digestive Health Procedure Suite (50%)

Overview

University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a 50%
Clinical Technician I to work for the Digestive Health Procedure Suite.

Basic Function and Responsibility:

  • Under direct supervision, operates and maintains specialized equipment for use in tests and studies related to patient treatment and staff teaching.
Responsibilities
  • Prepares area and materials for patient testing, requiring knowledge of medical equipment and its proper usage.
  • Performs routine technical measurements using specialized medical equipment to determine changing conditions of a patient.
  • Records and maintains information obtained during equipment tests to facilitate interpretation of the data and meet established equipment review guidelines/protocols.
  • Distributes information to appropriate areas and personnel.
  • Performs routine maintenance of equipment to ensure operational condition at all times.
  • Assists in training new personnel to operate and maintain equipment.
  • Assembles emergency trays and accessory equipment.
  • Escorts patients to examination rooms.
  • Assists higher-level staff in performance of their duties as assigned.

Percent of time: 50%(20 hours per week)
Salary: Merit Plan Plan
Location: Main Campus (JCP)
Hours: Variable days, Monday-Friday, Rotating between 0700 and 0900 start times. Shift extension may be required on a rotating basis. On-Call Duties include weeknights and weekends on a rotating basis and holiday call coverage also rotates. Occasional evening shifts scheduled from .

Qualifications
  • One year of health care experience involving direct patient care.
