Position: Imaging/Senior Imaging Technologist (Multiple Openings) Urgent Care Clinics

This requisition represents multiple Imaging/Senior Imaging Tech openings within the department. The University of Iowa Health Care intends to hire for this position at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient centered
60-
90% Senior/Imaging Technologist (24-36 hours) to work in our Iowa City/Coralville Urgent Care Clinics. This position is responsible for perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment, explain examination procedures to patients and monitor their status, and instruct students and staff on examination and equipment operations and ensures all imaging protocols are being used correctly. This position comes with the University of Iowa's generous,

including double-match retirement, paid vacation and sick leave, free parking and much more. This position supports our UI Health Care Clinics and may travel between clinics to provide continued support.
Selective candidates eligible for a sign-on bonus of $10,000. Current UI employees are not eligible.

Percent of Time
: 60%-90% (24-36 hours a week)

Schedule
:
Monday through Friday , Saturday and Sunday , rotating weekends and holidays.

  • Example Schedule 1:
    • Week 1:
      Mon, Tues, Wed
    • Week 2:
      Wed , Thurs, Fri
  • Example Schedule 2:
    • Mon-Fri  (two days per week work until 1500)
  • Example Schedule 3:
    • Mon-Fri  (two days per week come in at 1330)

Location:
Iowa City/Coralville -
Availability to provide support to other clinics within a 2-hour radius required.
Fleet Car provided.
Paid drive time.

  • UI Health Care will be filling this position at one of two levels.
  • The Imaging Technologist classification salary is 4.
  • The Senior Imaging Technologist classification salary is 5.

Position Responsibilities
  • Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized diagnostic equipment.
  • Maintain, operate and trouble‑shoot and report equipment failures.
  • Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
  • Explain examination process to patients.
  • Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures.
  • Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
  • Performs proficiency testing for the lab; phlebotomy; runs all controls; maintains logbooks.
  • Works closely with all inspectors.
  • Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
  • Schedule's test, procedures, and admissions outside the clinic as directed by LIP.
  • Maintains examination rooms.

    Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies
  • Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
  • Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  • Works independently with limited supervision.
