Overview

Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on incentive of $10,000. The UI Stead Family Department of Pediatrics is seeking an Imaging Technologist or Senior Imaging Technologist to join our Pediatric Catheterization and Electrophysiology and pediatric imaging and procedure center. Responsibilities include operating cine, fluoro, and digital angiography imaging equipment, hemodynamic monitoring, scrubs/circulating duties during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, teaching, quality assurance, preventative maintenance/repair, and on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Operates digital angiography imaging equipment including multi-format cameras and high-resolution recorders independently.
  • Performs sterile setup and post-procedure cleanup.
  • Performs circulating duties including patient care, basic and advanced cardiovascular life support, vital sign monitoring, and patient procedure preparation.
  • Maintains imaging/procedure records and handles image storing, archiving, copying, destruction and disposal.
  • Maintains the operating condition of radiologic equipment via quality control checks.
  • Provides instruction/orientation to trainees, students and hospital personnel on equipment operation, safety precautions and procedures.
  • Participates in research as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of developments in radiologic technology through continuing education and professional involvement.
  • Follows policies and procedures in accordance with University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and Department of Pediatrics.
Operates Lab Equipment
  • Operates digital angiography imaging equipment and related recording systems.
  • Operates analysis equipment such as cardiac output computers, oxygen monitors, oximeters, blood gas and ACT machines.
  • Operates pressure injection systems for contrast delivery as ordered by the cardiologist.
  • Operates Radio frequency and Cryotherapy ablation consoles.

Imaging Technologist

Required Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a two-year or other approved program by JRCERT.
  • Certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by ARRT.
  • Permit to practice in the State of Iowa for radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain certification in BLS/CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire.
Imaging Technologist – Highly Desired Qualifications
  • One or more years of experience in cardiac catheterization or invasive angiography.
  • Experience in pediatric interventional cardiac catheterization.
Senior Imaging Technologist

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related Allied Health discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in cardiac catheterization or invasive angiography.
  • Maintain current ARRT certification and Iowa permit to practice as required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain certification in BLS/CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 6 months of hire.
