Mortgage Accounting Specialist

🕒 Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8am to 5pm – some flexibility

We are an established, fast paced mortgage company seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Accounting Specialist to manage day-to-day financial operations and support accurate, compliant reporting. This role is important to keeping our loan operations running smoothly and financials rock-solid. You’ll have an opportunity to make a strong impact in a small and dynamic team. A positive attitude and ability to be organized is a must!

• Ensure accurate and timely financial operations, including AP/AR, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Reconcile escrow, trust, and operating accounts and maintain clean financial systems
• Track loan-related transactions, commissions, and fees to tie out loan origination system numbers to financial accounting system numbers
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements
• Ensure compliance with mortgage industry regulations and internal controls
• Coordinate with operations manager to support overall smooth day-to-day operations
• Coordinate with external CPAs, auditors, and management as needed
• Maintain accurate records for regulatory and internal reporting
• Manage and collect payments on a small portfolio of serviced loans
• Other duties as assigned

✅ Essential Requirements of the job include:

• Degree in finance or accounting with 2+ years of experience OR 3+ years office experience doing similar work
• Comfortable working within a Team to ensure smooth loan closings under firm deadlines
• Calm under pressure with strong follow-through on commitments
• Comfortable coordinating with multiple vendors for invoicing accuracy
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

➕It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• Mortgage or financial services experience
• Experience or interest in underwriting, loan origination and/or loan processing
• Proficiency in accounting and/or mortgage software
