Asset Management Technician Engineering Division / Public Works Department
- Prepare, maintain and update public infrastructure asset maps, plats, graphics, statistics, web applications and presentation materials with extensive use of geographic information (GIS) and asset management systems.
- Use global positioning system (GPS) instruments to collect utility infrastructure data and train others in basic GPS data collection.
- Under general direction, conduct on-site inspections of public infrastructure for data collection, verification and other uses.
- Assist with the management of the City’s asset management system to aid in project analysis, design and construction.
- Track public infrastructure construction projects and coordinate information to be included in the City’s asset management system.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution; or four years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree in GIS, Civil/Construction Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Experience working with GIS or asset management software.
- Valid State of Iowa driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or five years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with construction, construction inspection, engineering drafting or related.
- Experience with Open Gov (Cartegraph) Asset Management System.
