Asset Management Technician Engineering Division / Public Works Department

• Prepare, maintain and update public infrastructure asset maps, plats, graphics, statistics, web applications and presentation materials with extensive use of geographic information (GIS) and asset management systems.
• Use global positioning system (GPS) instruments to collect utility infrastructure data and train others in basic GPS data collection.
• Under general direction, conduct on-site inspections of public infrastructure for data collection, verification and other uses.
• Assist with the management of the City’s asset management system to aid in project analysis, design and construction.
• Track public infrastructure construction projects and coordinate information to be included in the City’s asset management system.

Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution; or four years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Degree in GIS, Civil/Construction Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Experience working with GIS or asset management software.
• Valid State of Iowa driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must pass criminal background check.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or five years of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with construction, construction inspection, engineering drafting or related.
• Experience with Open Gov (Cartegraph) Asset Management System.
