Responsibilities- Serve as an early-career faculty member with full attending responsibilities under supervision.
- Participate in the clinical care of pediatric cardiac surgery patients.
- Engage in teaching activities involving medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Complete at least one academic or research project during the term of appointment.
The Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking to fill a faculty position at the rank of Instructor within the Division of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. This position offers the opportunity for advanced clinical training and academic development in the subspecialty of pediatric cardiac surgery. The Instructor will function as an early-career faculty member and will participate in clinical care, education, and scholarly activities.

Education Requirement- Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or international equivalent).
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in cardiothoracic surgery or international equivalent
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must be eligible for or possess an Iowa medical license.
- Demonstrated experience providing patient-centered care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Commitment to academic medicine and clinical excellence.
- Completion of a congenital cardiac surgery fellowship or international equivalent experience is preferred.
- Experience in pediatric cardiac surgery at a high-volume center.
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Interest in academic scholarship, quality improvement, or surgical education.
