Accountant position at the University of Iowa, Shared Services Department. The Accountant will perform and coordinate day-to-day accounting and finance activities in University Shared Services and work with assigned departments to provide financial information, ensure accurate and timely processing, and maintain excellent customer service. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization.
Responsibilities- Process orders and expenses through financial systems and determine the appropriate account and funding for payment.
- Create travel reimbursements; review travel requests to ensure expenditures and reimbursements comply with pertinent laws and regulations; process payments and reimbursements as appropriate.
- Initiate eVouchers, eDeposits, reconcile procurement card vouchers, and create travel expense vouchers.
- Determine and follow university travel, accounts payable, purchasing, cash handling and bid procedures, contracts, and federal regulations to ensure appropriate purchases are made. Create catalog and inventory orders using university procurement tools.
Location: 100% Remote within Iowa
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm
Pay: $42,392 to commensurate
Required Qualifications- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience (typically 6 months) related accounting experience.
- Proficiency in computer software applications with demonstrated competence in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience providing excellent customer service.
- Good organizational and analytical/statistical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of automated accounting or financial systems.
- Familiarity with People Soft Financials.
- Familiarity with ePro, Pro Trav, and APPO systems.
- Knowledge of University business policies and procedures.
