Position Title: Psychologist
Location: Correctional Facility in Ione, California
Pay Rate: $144.64 to $146.64 per hour
Schedule: Full-time, 6 to 9-month contract with potential for extension
Minimum Qualifications
- Twelve months of direct patient care experience within the last three years in a public or private institution
- Clinical competencies must be current
- Valid government-issued photo (Drivers License or Passport)
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Valid California Psychologist license (hard copy required)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychological services to mentally ill inmates under the supervision of the Senior Psychologist, Supervisor, or Chief of Mental Health
- Maintain order and supervise the behavior of inmates during treatment
- Serve as clinician-of-the-day as needed and be available for emergency situations during assigned shifts
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to maintain high professional standards
- Conduct initial evaluations that assess criminal, psychological, and substance abuse histories
- Provide crisis intervention, group therapy, and one-on-one sessions
- Perform clinical interviews in housing units when required, including cell front evaluations
- Identify psychiatric symptoms and make accurate diagnoses
- Utilize psychological assessments and interpret results appropriately
- Write detailed clinical reports and develop individualized treatment plans
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and consult on complex clinical cases
- Maintain detailed documentation of all patient interactions using SOAPE-formatted progress notes
- Perform mental status exams and review relevant medical and legal records to support diagnoses
- Establish relationships with community resources and programs as approved
- Offer education and develop resources for both inmates and staff regarding mental health topics
- Assist inmates with benefit applications, including SSI and referrals to community programs
- Analyze audit data related to mental health program compliance
- Provide support documentation such as appointment logs and no-show reports to data entry staff
- Share patient information with authorized individuals following signed release protocols
- Build therapeutic relationships with inmates and their families to enhance treatment outcomes
- Represent the department at mental health-related meetings and events
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new treatment or rehabilitation programs
