The Technology and Digital Services Infrastructure Team is responsible for the provision of reliable, high-quality IT services that underpin delivery of corporate outcomes across the full breadth of Nature Scot activity.
The Software Development Team is responsible for the design, development and operation of internal business applications and public-facing digital services.
We are looking for someone who is:- Passionate and enthusiastic about digital transformation, software development, web and cloud technologies.
- Knowledgeable and experienced in software engineering and Dev Ops practices.
- Able to understand and engage with product owners, service users and other stakeholders.
- Positive, pragmatic, motivated and productive.
- Able to enjoy working as part of a busy team of digital specialists.
- Design and develop software to meet business and user needs.
- Investigate and understand user needs and how they translate to application features.
- Write clean, secure and well-tested code.
- Review existing code to reprogram, refactor, update and add new features.
- Find ways to improve system robustness, resilience and stability.
- Implement cloud infrastructure, Dev Ops pipelines and related services.
- Manage, coach and mentor more junior colleagues.
- Help the team to inspect, adapt and continually improve.
SQL, Terraform, Docker, Jenkins, Angular, JavaScript/Type Script, Object-Relational Mapping, node.js, Git, Git Hub, design system.
Required
- Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK and resident in Scotland for the duration of the job contract
- To undertake a Disclosure Scotland application.
- Although Gaelic language is not a prerequisite it is a desirable skill in support of our commitment to our Gaelic Language Plan
