Assistant Store Manager (Full-Time / Permanent) About Us:

Highland Whisky Shop is a growing independent whisky retailer with a passion for exceptional customer service and a carefully curated range of premium whisky, gin, and other spirits. We’re based in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and pride ourselves on our knowledge, hospitality, and welcoming atmosphere.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Assistant Store Manager to join our team full-time. This is a permanent position with opportunities for growth. The ideal candidate will be passionate about whisky and retail, with experience in customer service and team supervision.

As an Assistant Store Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the shop, supporting the Store Manager and helping to lead a small team of sale advisors. You will be responsible for opening and closing the store, managing cash and stock, and ensuring our high standards of service are consistently met.

• Support the Store Manager in all aspects of daily operations
• Lead by example and assist in supervising and motivating team members
• Ensure excellent customer service at all times
• Open and close the store (key holder responsibilities)
• Handle cash and process end-of-day reports and reconciliations
• Assist with stock control, merchandising, and deliveries
• Support team training and development
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment

• Previous experience in a retail environment (ideally in a supervisory or management role)
• A passion for whisky or a willingness to learn
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Reliable, organised, and proactive with good attention to detail
• Comfortable with cash handling and using a point-of-sale system
• Able to work independently and as part of a small, close‑knit team
• Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings

This is a full‑time role averaging 40 hours per week. You will work five days out of seven, including weekends. Your hours will be annualised, meaning you’ll work longer hours during the summer and shorter hours in the winter, in line with our seasonal opening hours.

Salary: £28,000 per year
