Position: Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry, East Sector

Overview

New Craigs Hospital, Inverness We seek to appoint a permanent Older Adult Psychiatrist, to join our team dedicated to the delivery of older adult mental health services in the Highlands. The post holder will provide consultant input to our community team to cover Mid Ross (Dingwall, Strathpeffer) and Easter Ross (Alness, Invergordon, Tain), for both primary and organic mental disorders. The post is supported by a well-developed community mental health team.

An experienced Associate Specialist supports nurse led care home liaison. The successful candidate will be encouraged to become an integral part of these local teams and in the wider NHS Highland General Adult Psychiatry Team There will be opportunity for special interest, service development and in the teaching and training of students and trainees. The capacity to deliver the service using digital technology is well developed, which opens up further opportunity to potential post holders.

Applicants for the Consultant grade must be on the GMC specialist register in Older Adult Psychiatry or within 6 months of award of CCT by date of interview as consideration can be given to appoint on a proleptic basis. This post requires participation in the Consultant on call rota at New Craigs Hospital.

We also welcome applicants who meet eligibility criteria for the Specialist Doctor. The post would suit a candidate with significant experience in Older Adult Psychiatry who is committed to gaining CCT through the Portfolio Pathway/ CESR route. The post will be supervised by a substantive Consultant.

Clinical Lead will work to refine the post depending on the circumstances of the successful applicant.
