Haematology Team Manager

Due to retirement, the Blood Sciences Department at NHS Highland requires a Haematology Team Manager (8a) to join our friendly, dedicated and professional team.

• Provide technical support to the laboratories at Raigmore Hospital (Inverness) and to Caithness General, Belford Hospital and Lorn and Islands General Labs as required.
• Operate and oversee Haematology, Coagulation analysers (Sysmex Haematology and Coagulation analysers) and carry out routine and specialist analyses.
• Carry out Haemoglobinopathy and HbA1c analysis using Tosoh HPLC.
• Contribute to the department as a tertiary centre for NHS Highland, handling specimens from a wide geographic area including Skye and the Western Isles.
• Support the Blood Science Department in its role, capacity and testing volumes (the Raigmore lab handles over 5 million tests per annum).

• IBMS Higher specialist portfolio or MSc in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• 5 years post-qualification experience, with management qualification or ILM level 5 and/or suitable experience at band 7 or 8a level.
• Experience in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.
• Haematology experience is essential; blood transfusion experience is desirable but not required.

The post is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. The post holder will provide technical support to laboratories at Caithness General, Belford Hospital and Lorn and Islands General Labs as needed.
