Salary
Band 6: £41,608 – £50,702 (pro rata) per annum
Band 5: £33,247 – £41,424 (pro rata) per annum

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high‑quality QS (Blood Sciences) service for NHS Highland, including routine and specialist analysis.
  • Proceed through haematology and biochemistry training and receive Specialist Diploma in Haematology (if required).
  • Participate in the 24/7/365 out‑of‑hours rota, including out‑of‑hours assignments as space permits.
  • Make use of Sysmex Haematology & Coagulation analysers, Siemens Atellica biochemistry analyzers, and Tosoh HPLC for haemoglobinopathy & HbA1c.
  • Adhere to ISO 15189 accreditation standards and support continuous improvement of laboratory processes.
Key Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist (specialist BMS).
  • Experience in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory.
  • IBMS Registration Portfolio/Certificate of Competence assessment date pending is acceptable under Annex 21.
  • Where no HCPC registration exists, an accredited degree or IBMS‑approved equivalent required; pay at Band 5/Annex 21 based on evidence provided.
  • Proof of accredited degree or equivalence must be supplied at application time.
