This is an exciting opportunity to join the Microbiology Department, Raigmore Hospital, Inverness which comprises Culture, Molecular, Serology and Immunology sections. It is the only clinical Microbiology laboratory in the Highlands providing a comprehensive diagnostic service to a resident population of approximately 324,000. The Scottish Toxoplasma Reference Laboratory (STRL) and Scottish Lyme Disease and Tick-borne infections Reference Laboratory (SLDTRL) are also based in the department.

We require an HCPC registered specialist Biomedical Scientist to rotate through the Virology section (Molecular/Serology) and Reference Laboratory, in NHS Highland, in compliance with agreed specifications to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of a high quality service as assessed by internal and external review.

The post is based at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. Candidates must have experience in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory. The successful candidate will be required to participate in weekend working. Currently there is no requirement to work evenings or throughout the night, however, needs of the service may require this going forward.
