The role

You’ll act as a subject matter expert, working with colleagues across the business to drive delivery of the climate risk, resilience and adaptation elements of our Sustainability Strategy, advance cutting‑edge climate risk assessment, secure accreditation against key British Standards, and lead clear, high‑quality disclosures on resilience and adaptation.

You

  • Align methodologies with British Standards and global best practice, consolidating risk and scenario analysis to ensure climate considerations inform investment decisions, asset management and major projects.
  • Lead climate resilience governance forums, strengthening cross-business planning and decision making, and represent SSEN Transmission within SSE-wide climate governance structures. Collaborating with senior leaders and specialists, you will help shape SSE-wide approaches to climate risk, scenario analysis and adaptation pathways.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and investor climate disclosure requirements, providing high-quality inputs for Ofgem, ISSB-aligned reporting and emerging frameworks such as ARP, while developing effective KPIs, dashboards and insights that support informed decisions on climate risk and resilience.
  • Influence and engage stakeholders across Transmission, SSE Group, regulators and investors to build support for action on climate resilience. You will foster strong relationships, encourage collaboration and help align teams and functions to strengthen adaptation across the business.
You have
  • Proven experience in climate adaptation, resilience planning or climate risk management within energy, infrastructure or similar sectors, with a solid understanding of regulated utilities, transmission networks and asset‑intensive operations.
  • An understanding of investor and regulatory expectations, climate‑risk disclosure requirements and the policy frameworks driving them.
  • Deep expertise in climate adaptation and resilience frameworks, climate risk assessment and scenario analysis, alongside strong knowledge of global climate‑risk disclosure standards. You can prioritise risks, shape long‑term strategies, assess performance against recognised standards and support accreditation.
  • A strategic thinker and strong communicator who can influence senior stakeholders and technical experts across a complex organisation. Curious, proactive and analytically minded, you translate complex climate insights into clear actions, build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across teams to drive progress on resilience and adaptation.
  • Experience with climate‑risk modelling, financial quantification and project management is highly valuable.
