Salary range £42,188-£44,758 per annum, Duration Permanent, Full Time, Working hours 35hrs per week Mon - Fri, Location UHI House, Inverness, Closing Date Sunday 8th March 2026.
Centre for Rural Health ScienceWe are seeking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic healthcare professional who would value the opportunity to contribute to the education of the next generation of nurses and health and social care professionals, including postgraduate and advanced clinical assessment provision.
This is an excellent opportunity for advanced practitioners, specialist nurses, allied health professionals and clinicians with an interest in education who wish to develop or extend an academic career within a supportive rural health sciences environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education within the Centre for Rural Health Sciences, including advanced clinical assessment and related postgraduate provision, alongside undergraduate teaching.
You will join a team committed to enhancing education for nurses, midwives and allied health professionals across the Highlands and Islands and beyond.
The Role Will Include- Teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
- Contribution to advanced clinical assessment and postgraduate provision
- Supporting and assessing students in academic and practice settings
- Contributing to curriculum development and innovation
- Working collaboratively with clinical partners to ensure programmes remain current and workforce‑focused
- Advanced practitioners
- Specialist nurses and allied health professionals
- Practice educators
- Experienced clinicians considering a transition into higher education
Applicants must be registered with the NMC or HCPC and have current or recent clinical experience. An interest or experience in advanced clinical practice, clinical assessment, community, rural or remote practice would be particularly valuable.
Experience of teaching pre- or post-registration learners is desirable but not essential. A recognised teaching qualification is also desirable; however, the University will support the successful candidate to undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching if required.

Centre for Rural Health ScienceThe Centre for Rural Health Sciences is part of the university’s Health, Social Care and Life Sciences subject area. Based in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, we have a campus in Inverness, the capital of the Scottish Highlands, and in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. We provide accessible, evidence informed education for nurses and other health and social care professionals, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, and are committed to supporting our students to make a significant contribution to the care of people in our communities.
We also foster a strong research community locally and build research collaborations nationally and internationally in order to conduct high quality applied research that improves health and wellbeing within the Highlands and Islands and addressing key health questions relevant to Scotland and beyond.
