Position: Visitor Host (Seasonal)

Overview

Season: 11 April to 18 October (annual seasonal role)

Hours: Saturdays & Sundays, 9.00am–6.00pm (with potential additional days available)

Pay: £17.25 per hour

About the role:

Boleskine House is welcoming visitors for our 2026 season and we are looking for an engaging, confident Visitor Host to deliver a high quality visitor experience on the weekends. This is a seasonal position and would ideally suit someone who can commit to the role each year. As visitor numbers grow, there is potential for this to develop into a more regular (and potentially more full-time) role in future seasons.

We are recruiting now for a weekend position but we will consider a wider role if we meet the right candidate. Visitors will use a self-guided tour and the postholder will play a key role in welcoming guests, setting them up for their visit, and ensuring a high-quality experience throughout the day.

Key responsibilities
  • Welcome visitors on arrival and provide a warm, professional first impression
  • Hand out and explain the self-guided tour materials, including timings, key points of interest, and house guidance
  • Liaise with members of the public throughout their visit, answering questions and supporting accessibility needs
  • Manage visitor flow and support smooth operations across the day
  • Host bespoke curated experiences
  • Work closely with the wider weekday management team to maintain visitors safety, presentation standards, and a calm, welcoming atmosphere
What we’re looking for
  • A genuine passion for Scottish history and Boleskine’s unique cultural history
  • Excellent people skills: confident, warm, and able to engage a wide range of visitors
  • Strong organisation and communication skills, with a calm approach during busy periods
  • Reliable weekend availability across the season (11 April–18 October)
  • Previous guiding, heritage, museum, tourism or hospitality experience
  • Local area knowledge and/or storytelling experience
How to apply

Please email info with:

  • A short covering note explaining why you’re interested in the role
  • A CV and a short summary of relevant experience
  • Your availability across the season (11 April–18 October)
Closing date

Closing date for applications: Anticipated 25 January 2025, with interviews carried out shortly after this date

Start date: 9 April for training, and starting 11 April
