Primary Care Locum Physician for Northwest Territories
MDSearch is recruiting a CCFP-trained Primary Care Physician to join Inuvik Regional Hospital, the only hospital facility serving the Beaufort-Delta region. This role focuses on comprehensive, patient-centred primary care with flexibility to manage complex and multi-issue visits.
Required Credentials:
- CCFP
Compensation:
- Hourly rate (no fee for service), along with on-call remuneration.
- Inuvik includes pay for 2 hours of administration time every week.
- Most appointments are 30 minutes
- Multi-issue appointments are common
- Holistic primary care is encouraged
- Occasional phone appointments, primarily for prescription refills
- Appointments may be extended to 30 minutes for more complex cases
Schedule & Commitment:
- Clinic is usually 9am-noon, 1pm-5pm
- Duration:
At 4 or 5 shifts - Travel and accommodations fully covered (meals not included)
- Travel stipend up to $3,000 for locums travelling to Inuvik (for start dates between Jan 5 – March 31, based on travel time)
Locum blocks are typically 1–2 weeks, with longer assignments available.
Support:
- Inuvik includes 2 hours of administration time every week.

Not licensed yet: NWT licensing and credentialing procedures takes 6 weeks to complete and is quite similar to other jurisdictions. The initial licensing & registration fee in the NWT is $383.
