Produce Clerk – Kroger Mountain View Foods

Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor all quality assurance standards. • Create an environment where customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering product questions throughout the store
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold in the department and make product suggestions
• Assist with the preparation of produce platters/trays and inform customers of produce specials
• Recommend items to ensure customers receive the products they want and need
• Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise; review products for quality and freshness, taking appropriate action
• Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise; maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager
• Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and report all safety risks or issues to management
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate manager of any repairs needed
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents and report all illegal activity
• Maintain a positive attitude, stay current with ads, and adapt to high‑paced, sometimes stressful environments
• Act cooperatively, resolve conflict non‑confrontationally, and uphold honesty and integrity with customer and business information
• Provide support through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation

• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Effective communication skills
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, subtraction)
• Current food handlers permit required upon employment
• Comparable retail experience preferred
• Second language proficiency (speaking, reading, or writing) desirable

Santa Monica, CA – Salary: $19.00‑$26.00 per hour (full‑time)
