The City of Inglewood Parking Enforcement office is looking for a qualified individual to patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to enforce parking regulations/restrictions as a Parking Enforcement Officer. Schedule will be determined prior to hiring.
In This Role, You Will- Issue written and computer‑generated parking citations while patrolling the City primarily on foot or by vehicle.
- Communicate with the public to explain parking regulations.
- Assist in the temporary tow‑sign process, including posting signs on trees, signposts, and other types of posts.
- Perform traffic control duties during special events and traffic light outages.
- Other duties as needed by the City.
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Must have at least two years of work experience in a related field and/or customer service.
- Ability to learn, comprehend, and retain knowledge of policies and guidelines related to the California Vehicle Code and City of Inglewood Municipal Code.
- Must be computer literate to enter data accurately into handheld device.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid CA Driver's License required with a good driving record.
- Must be able to report to work on time for assigned shifts.
- Good sense of direction.
- Experience operating a company vehicle a plus.
- Candidate must be able to walk for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions and be able to enter and exit out of a vehicle frequently.
- Flexibility in schedule to work holidays if scheduled and for mandatory special events.
- Traffic control experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of radio calls (10‑codes and NATO alphabet).
- Familiarity with City of Inglewood streets and boundaries.
- Willingness to work in the elements -- heat, wind, snow, rain, etc.
- Ability to lift, push and pull at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk and run for extended periods of time.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
