Overview
The NFL is seeking a dynamic and creative Senior Editor to conceive imaginative content that will engage and grow targeted audiences on our digital and social platforms. The primary focus will be on the cross-section of women and football.
A successful candidate must have a passion for and a comprehensive understanding of the NFL and truly be excited to engage fans through all digital formats. You will conceive content utilizing all the league’s assets – catchy headlines and graphics, original videos, reporters, informative stats, and data. Exceptional news judgment is crucial, as is a thirst for pop culture, entertainment, and all things sports.
This is a role for someone who can identify interesting conversations about football wherever they are happening, regardless of platform, and turn them into meaningful content for the NFL.
Responsibilities- Lead and deliver the editorial news meeting every morning at 8:30 am, ensuring all cross-functional platforms are aligned
- Oversee day-to-day editorial assignments and news gathering
- Write news stories when necessary
- Determine breaking and developing news coverage independently and collaboratively
- Work closely with assignment editors and desk assistants to ensure reporting is uniformly delivered on all platforms
- Track, evaluate, and interpret NFL News content performance to make metrics-supported editorial decisions
- Work with senior leadership to maintain the Digital News Desk staffing schedule
- Monitor and enforce best practices, including adherence to the NFL Media Style Guide, across the NFL News Desk
- Work closely with writers/reporters on article executions, from idea generation to publishing
- Help manage and develop social media strategies for NFL News content to boost fan engagement
- Identify, curate, and package made-for-social content using creativity, trending data, and solid news judgment
- Watch NFL games in real-time and distinguish highlights and moments from broadcast and sidelines that should be repurposed and programmed for this audience
- Oversee day-to-day growth and operations for an offshoot of , including coordination with various teams (social media editors, writers, video editors, news desk), as well as copyedit and publish HTML and perform basic Photoshop skills
- 7 years of social media, content, or digital editorial experience, preferably in sports
- Creative yet detail-oriented editor who can pull and analyze NFL storylines and reports accurately and in a timely manner
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred
- Proven NFL knowledge that lends itself to sound news judgment
- Knowledge of HTML and Photoshop preferred

Salary range: $120,000 — $135,000 USD. This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting, that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range.
Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
