The Disaster Recovery Engineer is responsible for the technical assessment, planning, and execution oversight of disaster recovery projects, ensuring restoration works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required engineering and quality standards.
This role provides technical expertise across major loss events (fire, flood, contamination, industrial damage), supports project methodology, and ensures compliance with industry best practices and client requirements.

Conduct detailed site inspections and damage assessments following disaster events.

Develop technical recovery plans including drying strategies, decontamination processes, and reinstatement methodologies.

Define scope of works, equipment requirements, and technical sequencing of recovery activities.

Ensure recovery plans align with safety standards, client expectations, and regulatory requirements.

Provide technical supervision over restoration activities such as structural drying, mold remediation, contamination control, and reinstatement works.

Implement quality assurance measures, testing protocols, and documentation standards.

Review technical reports, moisture mapping data, and environmental monitoring results.

Ensure projects meet agreed service standards and insurer/client specifications.

Work closely with Operations Managers, Supervisors, and Technicians to ensure correct technical execution on site.

Support client communication by providing engineering explanations, methodologies, and technical reporting.

Assist in managing variations, technical risks, and complex project constraints.

Liaise with loss adjusters, brokers, insurers, and contractors where required.

Ensure all recovery works comply with safety policies, SOPs, and environmental regulations.

Identify technical risks (structural instability, hazardous contamination, secondary damage) and recommend mitigation actions.

Promote best practices in safe working methods and disaster recovery engineering standards.

Produce technical documentation including assessment reports, drying logs, remediation plans, and completion certifications.

Contribute to operational dashboards through technical performance metrics.

Support continuous improvement initiatives in recovery methodologies, equipment use, and restoration standards.

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related field).

5–10 years of relevant experience in managing machinery, conducting Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) assessments, and recovery planning.

Strong analytical and field skills with the ability to evaluate equipment performance and identify potential issues.

Proficient in preparing clear and comprehensive technical reports.

Ability to supervise recovery works, ensuring safety, quality, and timely completion.

Willingness to liaise with clients and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) as required.

Excellent teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills.

Motivated and proactive, with a strong learning mindset to develop technical and field-related skills.
