Your New Role –
Key Responsibilities:
HSE Management:
Oversee the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) arrangements for projects in compliance with WSP HSEQ Management System requirements to ensure the safety of all personnel
.Inspector Supervision:
Manage HSE Inspectors to monitor the implementation of health and safety measures at project sites, ensuring alignment with legal and client requirements
.Training and Induction:
Develop and deliver HSE training programs for WSP employees, covering aspects such as induction programs and safe working practices
.Contractor Plan Review:
Assess and approve contractor health, safety, and environmental plans
, risk assessments
, and method statements before project work begins, ensuring compliance with legal and client standards
.Site Inspections:
Schedule and conduct daily site visits across project locations to verify that health and safety measures are in place before the commencement of work.Joint Inspections:
Carry out weekly joint HSE inspections with HSE Inspectors and contractor personnel
, ensuring all corrective and preventive actions are identified and resolved.HSE Meetings:
Organize and lead HSE meetings with clients, WSP project staff, and contractors to address safety issues and updates.Emergency Response Planning:
Initiate and test emergency response plans and ensure that drills are conducted according to the project schedule and performance standards.Incident Investigation and Reporting:
Ensure HSE Inspectors follow up on incident investigation reports from contractors, confirming that corrective actions are identified and closed to prevent recurrence. Provide technical guidance for accident prevention.Safety Reviews:
Conduct regular site safety reviews to maintain high safety standards.
A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in HSE leadership
, ideally within the construction or engineering sector
.Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices
, with a focus on the Middle East region
.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
, with the capability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities
.A NEBOSH or equivalent certification (highly desirable).
Fluency in English (written and spoken);
Arabic proficiency is an advantage.SCE registration in Health and Safety is preferred.
