The Controller oversees the Accounting/Finance department and is responsible for all accounting functions, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and the organization's financial health. This role encompasses full-cycle accounting, monthly financials, and in-depth variance analysis to drive cost reduction and efficiency.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversee (and initially perform) all accounting functions;
  • Ensure that financial information is produced accurately and timely;
  • Performs full cycle accounting, including but not limited to the review of journal entries, quarterly accruals, and reconciliations;
  • Preparation of monthly financials;
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis to identify and explain differences between actual and budgeted costs, providing detailed cost reports to management, highlighting areas for potential cost reduction, resource optimization, and financial improvement;
  • Prepare and manage budgets ensuring cost projections align with organizational goals and objectives;
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints and cost-saving initiatives across the organization;
  • Identify opportunities for continuous cost reduction and process improvement, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement solutions;
  • Completion of bank reporting requirements, including borrowing base and compliance certificates;
  • Ensure compliance with all state and other reporting requirements;
  • Coordinate with external CPA firm on annual audit and provide required documentation;
  • Manage and develop Accounting staff;
  • Involvement in strategic initiatives and advise on their impact from an accounting/financial perspective;
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to assist management in decision-making processes related to investments, cost management, and resource allocation;
  • Assist in determining the pricing of products and services by analyzing cost structures and ensuring they meet profitability targets;
  • Perform profitability analysis for different products and projects to support management decisions and strategic planning;
  • Perform special projects as requested by management; and
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
  • CPA is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with annual external audit or review process
  • Experience with an ERP system
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central is a plus
  • At least five (5) years of related experience, must include direct support/interaction with operations staff
  • Supervisory experience with a consistent track record of meeting closing and other deadlines
