SHIFT AVAILABILITY

* Sun 10pm-8am, Mon 10pm-8am, Friday 5am-3pm, Saturday 5am-3pm

GENERAL SUMMARY

It is the responsibility of the Public Safety Officer Lead to oversee a team of public safety officer professionals to respond to incidents in and around the terminal supporting our police and fire teams. This position will also assist leadership as needed to execute paperwork assist public safety employees, as needed. In addition, ensure compliance with security access procedures at all assigned areas providing access to the secured area of the airport.

This individual is responsible for the enforcement of FAA security regulations specifically related to FAR 107.13 and 107.14

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Ability to recognize airport issued credentials by approved access area

* Ensure compliance with access control procedures

* Communicate clearly and concisely via radio

* Understand FAA pertinent regulations, airport operations, and layout

* Provide courteous service, directions, or information to the public and others as necessary.

* Observe for security violations, unusual situations, hazardous conditions, and congestion problems.

* Assist with emergency situations, including, but not limited to, an injured person in the terminal and airport security breaches

* Complete all necessary paperwork and related reports concerning assisted events

* Respond in an appropriate manner to all emergency situations by providing first aid/CPR, gathering information, or using the appropriate amount of diplomacy to resolve the situation

* Provide customer service on foot or in a specialty vehicle while continuously monitoring radio traffic

* Assist other law enforcement, fire, and operations when requested

* Ongoing training with police and fire department

* Required to visit each of the seven (7) posts daily, assisting with staff concerns, and are properly dressed and groomed

* Ensure post orders are available and up to date

* Ensure PSOs are properly trained to function at the assigned post

* Ensure the Stop Lists are distributed daily. Adjust post assignments daily to ensure FAA security regulations, specifically related to FAR 107.13 and 107.14, are always maintained

* Responsible for daily equipment checks (e.g., radios, traffic wands, security vests, flashlights, mirrors, etc.).

* Responsible for performing a daily check on the PSO vehicle (i.e. no damage, take for maintenance and gas as needed)

* Ensure special assignments and details are completed as requested (e.g., plane counts, perimeter surveillance, escorting duties, etc.)

* Assist with new hires and ongoing incumbent training

* Any other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

* High school diploma or equivalent

* Education and experience that provides knowledge, skill, and ability to perform the duties of this position

* Two to three (2-3) years supervisory experience a plus

* Two to three (2-3) years of facility safety experience a plus

* Ability to perform physical and cognitive tasks identified in the job description

* Physical security experience

* Demonstrated experience in dealing directly with the public

* Strong communication skills

PREFERED REQUIREMENTS

* State of Indiana Firefighter 1 and 2 Certification

* State of Indiana Certification - (16-week LEO Certification)

* State of Indiana EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) Certification or State of Indiana EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) Certification

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

* Walk, sit, stand, stoop, bend, move arms, climb stairs and ladders

* Lift oneself into high standing vehicles for inspection

* Lift 50 pounds and be able to carry 55 feet

* Operate communications equipment to include radios and telephones

* See, hear, talk, write and communicate ordinance & security violations

* Monitor CCTV screens as assigned
