Job Overview:
Provides direction related to operations, processes, and conditions of their area. Plans, guides, and empowers team members in the day-to-day operation of the department. Sets an example by modeling exceptional customer experience. Helps achieve department goals and influences peers to create a successful strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with peers to provide the best shopping experience, including checkout.
- Communicate with team members and assign daily tasks.
- Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, ensuring standards and training are met.
- Support training and cross-training of team members to improve productivity.
- Assist in department scheduling to enhance engagement, service, sales, and profitability.
- Monitor product freshness and ensure proper rotation and dating.
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and work safely, aligning with 200% accountability.
- Oversee ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and display of products.
- Create an inclusive environment supporting Meijer’s culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Operate registers and handle cash when needed.
- Operate powered equipment if applicable.
- Participate in inventories to meet goals.
- May act as Lead in other departments as needed.
Qualifications:
- Passion for customer service and approachability.
- Initiate interactions with customers and peers.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Retail or customer service experience preferred.
- Creative thinking and influencing skills.
- Ability to build rapport and create repeat business.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, and twist.
- Experience in executing plans.
