Travel RN - Med​/Surg

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical position at an academic teaching hospital in Indiana, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an IN or Compact RN license in hand.

Job Details

• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:30),

• Medical-Surgical unit specializing in GI/Liver medical patients, including ERCP, CAPD, pre-transplant, and chronic pancreatitis cases,

• Patient ratio of 1:5-6,

• Travelers must be available to work 50% of weekends per contract based on unit needs,

• Charting is performed using Cerner (experience required),

• Travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU, at both the primary hospital and an affiliate hospital nearby,

Job Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license currently in hand,

• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted),

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required,

• IV start proficiency required,

• Cerner EMR experience required,

• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required,

• Level 1 Trauma experience preferred,

• Telemetry experience preferred,

• Local candidates are not accepted for this position,

Additional Information

• This is an academic teaching facility - all travelers must be willing to precept and/or be assigned students to shadow them during their assignment,

• Charge nurse responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs, with training and resources provided,

• If a contracted shift is missed, it will be made up within the pay period or added to the end of the contract depending on FTE status,

• Travelers who have been permanent or PRN employees of the health system must have been separated for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler,

• Indiana-licensed RNs are not permitted to work at this facility in Med-Surg roles,

• Up to 5 days of RTO can be auto-approved,

• Candidates must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays,

• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position,
