*** Call-Ins: If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to
1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.9 FTE. OR
2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract
3) If a 1.2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract
*** Weekends:
Travelers are expected to work every other week per their contract. Pending operational needs, consecutive weekends may be needed based on the greatest need
*** Charge coverage:
Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources. IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment. Please only submit candidates that are okay with these requirements. Certification Requirements: ACLS and BCLS Skillset Requirements:
Minimum 2 years experience Proficient in cardiac monitoring- on unit monitoring Management of chest tubes Fresh trachs Feeding tube care and management Care of post of patients Epidurals Management of non-titratable cardiac drips IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips External BiPAP/CPAP Total laryngectomy Doppler flap checks Floating Requirements:
Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals REFUSAL TO FLOAT MAY END IN TERMINATION OF CONTRACT Staffing Ratios: 1:3-4 Unit Information:
Surgical PCU- almost ICU level acuity- ENT (Neck dissections, Mandibulectomy), Thoracic (Esophagectomy, Lobectomy, Pneumonectomy), General Surg. (Pancreatic, Bowel/ liver resections), Urology (Urinary diversions, cystectomies, RPLND), Medical overflow Effective 11/30/24, IU Health will not allow IN RN's to work at their facilities (SEE EXCEPTIONS BELOW).
** Periop/OR RN's, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11/30 deadline. Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS**
