Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN with telemetry and neuro experience for night shifts requiring flexibility for weekends and floating.
Responsibilities- Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a teaching hospital
- Patient population includes CVAs, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, resections, seizures, TBIs, gunshot and stab wounds, motor vehicle crash injuries, GI surgeries, and complex wounds
- Staffing ratios are typically 1:3-4, rarely reaching 1:5 in emergencies
- Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30
- Must be able to work at least 50% of contracted weekends, with weekends based on unit needs
- Floating required to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU units within the hospital or nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Must be flexible to precept or have students shadow as part of teaching facility requirements
- Charge nurse duties may be assigned as needed with training and support
- Call-ins for contracted shifts may require making up time per facility policy
- First-time travelers are accepted and encouraged to apply
- Candidates must work 2 out of the 3 major holidays during the assignment
- Maximum of 5 days requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved
- Scrubs or uniform requirements to be provided by the facility
- Local candidates are not accepted for this position
- Active IN or compact RN license in hand prior to start
- Minimum of 2 years recent telemetry and neuro nursing experience required
- Proficiency in management of drips
- Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, and NIHSS (AHA or RQI accepted)
- Graduate from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program
- Experience with Cerner charting required
- Conscious sedation and Level 1 Trauma experience preferred but not required
- Perm or PRN employees of this health system must be separated for at least 12 months before consideration
