We are seeking RNs with at least 2 years of RN experience for this position.
Unit DescriptionThe Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Riley Children’s Health is a 23‑bed unit located on the 3rd floor of the Simon Family Tower. The unit cares for post‑operative cardiac surgical patients and critically ill children with complex cardiac disease requiring advanced medical ICU management, including newborns with known cardiac defects.
The CVICU culture emphasizes learning, compassion, and teamwork: "One Team, All Heart." Our team includes nurses, an intensivist, unit techs, NPs, PAs, cardiologists, pharmacists, and other members from the Heart Center.
Shift and ScheduleShift: Part‑time, various shifts available (Nights or rotating 6 weeks days/6 weeks nights).
Clinical Skills Gained- Managing complex patients with multiple central access, intracardiac lines, ventilators, medications, and drains.
- Cardioverting, defibrillating, and administering medications to stabilize heart rhythms.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).
- Caring for multiple VADs (Ventricular Assist Devices).
- Dialysis (Prisma and Aquadex).
- Opportunities to learn ECMO and participate in the ECMO team.
- STS 3‑STAR Cardiac program (highest ranking).
- Consistently ranked in US & World News Report.
- #5 Pediatric Cardiac Program in the country, #1 in the Midwest.
- Red Shoe award recipients and Daisy Award winners.
- 2 Margaret Martin Award winners on staff.
- Cronologic unit certifications: CCRN, CPN, and lactation counseling.
- Associate of Nursing (ASN) required;
Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred. - Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana or active RN license under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.
- Other advanced life support certifications as required by unit/department policies.
