Procedure Nurse

The Indiana Fertility Institute seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to join our procedural team. We value growth in a diverse, inclusive community. The nurse will provide compassionate clinical care based on the nursing process, maintaining the standard of care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

This position is on an as-needed basis, with hours from Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and Saturday to Sunday, 5:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Candidates must be available for at least 4 shifts per month, including 2 weekend shifts.

Essential Responsibilities

• Demonstrate practical, technical, or specialized skills required for peri-operative nursing as per regulatory standards.
• Fill roles as circulator, scrub, or Pre-Post Operative Staff Nurse.
• Oversee surgical instrument and equipment setup, prepare for cases using preference cards, and anticipate surgeon needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, and other staff.
• Manage patient care, including coordination with anesthesia and responding to patient condition changes.
• Review charts for completeness before and after procedures.
• Maintain good relationships with patients and team members.
• Communicate post-op care instructions and hand off care to recovery staff.
• Ensure operating room flow, notify physicians of delays, assist with turnovers, and facilitate case transitions.
• Operate sterilizing equipment like steam autoclaves.
• Escort spouses for sample collection, hand samples to embryology lab, and clean collection rooms.

Education/Experience

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ASN), current RN license in Indiana, BSN preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• IV and phlebotomy skills.
• At least 2 years’ experience as an OR Nurse, scrub nurse, or PACU in a surgery center or hospital.
• Fertility, Women’s Health, or OB-GYN experience a plus.
