The opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President of Compliance, you will provide strategic leadership, planning, and oversight for the institution's accessibility initiatives, coordinating compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and related federal and state regulations. This includes designation as the University's ADA and 504 Coordinator and related responsibility to foster digital and physical accessibility compliance initiatives across the university in support of the University's federated compliance program.
You will develop and lead the execution of compliance plans, projects, processes, and act as a liaison for the department to both internal and external constituencies. You will also chair or lead accessibility-related committees and working groups, provides training and policy education for faculty and staff, drafts and implements policies, procedures, and initiatives related to ADA and Section 504 compliance.
You will be responsible for the disability grievance procedure and serves as the final decision-maker for related appeals.
In addition, the Director provides secondary but integral support to the Title IX and equity functions of the Office of General Counsel and Compliance, assisting where needed in the coordination of investigations, training, policy development, and case management related to discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. You and the Director of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance serve as mutual designees, ensuring continuity of compliance functions and institutional responsiveness when one is unavailable.
The role is remote, but meaningful engagement with campus partners is essential. As such, the successful candidate must be willing and able to travel to campus periodically throughout the year.
What you'll do:
Accessibility and ADA/504 Coordination:
Serve as the University's ADA/Section 504 Coordinator for students, employees, and visitors, ensuring compliance with federal and state disability laws and institutional policies.
Lead and coordinate institutional planning and initiatives to ensure the accessibility of programs, services, facilities, and digital environments.
Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of disability-related policies, procedures, and accommodation processes to promote equal access and compliance.
Collaborate with faculty, Human Resources, Student Affairs, Facilities, and IT to resolve accessibility barriers, provide guidance on reasonable accommodations, and promote universal design principles.
Drive the University's digital accessibility strategy, leading improvement efforts for key digital assets, participating on related committees, and ensuring adherence to WCAG, Section 508, and other applicable standards.
Conduct and coordinate accessibility assessments of physical and digital environments, recommend corrective actions, and track institutional progress toward compliance goals.
