Job Summary
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and performance of pharmacy operations. This includes oversight of pharmacists (RPhs), pharmacy technicians, and support staff involved in the preparation, dispensing, packaging, and documentation of prescriptions. The Pharmacy Manager ensures operational excellence, compliance with state and federal regulations, adherence to company policies, and delivery of high-quality patient care. This role provides leadership to promote teamwork, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the pharmacy while supporting the strategic objectives of the organization.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring safe, accurate, and efficient preparation, dispensing, and documentation of all medications.
- Directly supervise pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, including scheduling, performance management, and professional development.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and organizational policies and procedures.
- Partner with the leadership team to manage workflow design, staffing models, and resource allocation to meet service level expectations.
- Monitor and improve key operational metrics (accuracy, turnaround time, productivity, and quality).
- Ensure all cycle fill and daily order processes are completed accurately and on time.
- Oversee drug procurement, storage, security, and inventory management to maintain proper stock levels and control costs.
- Support the development, review, and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), training materials, and process documentation.
- Identify process improvement opportunities, streamline workflows, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Maintain positive relationships with internal departments, facilities, and external partners, resolving escalated issues promptly and professionally.
- Lead or participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance activities.
- Provide clinical oversight as needed, supporting the safe and effective use of medications.
- Serve as a leadership liaison between pharmacy staff and senior management, communicating expectations, updates, and performance outcomes.
