Executive Recruiter | Milliner Talent Solutions

The Controller plays a key leadership role in the company’s financial operations, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and financial reporting. This position partners with executive leadership and field operations to ensure the organization’s financial integrity, compliance, and strategic performance across multiple business units.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead the order-to-cash process
    , including customer order management, accounts receivable/payable, credit, collections, cash application, and inventory optimization.
  • Provide regular cash flow and aging reports
    , delivering clear insights into financial health and liquidity.
  • Review and approve customer purchase orders, vendor agreements, subcontractor contracts, and lease documents.
  • Maintain and strengthen banking relationships
    , oversee reconciliation, ACH transactions, and daily cash management.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations
    ; coordinate with auditors and take corrective measures as needed to maintain strong internal controls.
  • Manage insurance programs (workers’ compensation, auto, general liability, and health plans), overseeing reserves, cost trends, and financial reporting.
  • Partner with operations on fleet budgeting, cost control, and insurance compliance
    , ensuring budget adherence and optimized utilization.
  • Direct the monthly close process
    , coordinating with both corporate and field teams to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
  • Prepare and present monthly forecasts, budget-to-actual analyses, and variance reports
    ; communicate insights and recommend corrective actions to improve profitability.
  • Lead the annual budget process
    , including timeline management, data consolidation, and review cycles with department heads.
  • Manage pricing models and cost analysis within financial systems (e.g., ERP/CPQ), ensuring profitability and alignment with market conditions.
  • Serve as the business owner for ERP and financial systems
    , maintaining data integrity across accounting, CRM, and other integrated tools.
  • Monitor new and existing financial legislation
    , ensuring company compliance and preparing management for regulatory changes.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge by participating in professional development, industry groups, and continuing education.
  • Oversee corporate office administration, including equipment, facilities, and vendor relationships as they relate to finance and operations.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor members of the finance team, fostering accountability and professional growth.
  • Uphold confidentiality and protect company financial data and strategic plans.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by senior leadership.
  • Expertise with ERP, CRM, and financial reporting systems (Net Suite or similar preferred).
  • Strong business acumen and analytical ability with a focus on operational efficiency and financial accuracy.
  • Proven success managing multi-location, service-based organizations and decentralized P&Ls.
  • Skilled in forecasting, budgeting, cash management, and variance analysis

  • Collaborative, proactive, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity, ethical leadership, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to travel occasionally with short notice as required.
Education and/or

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or a related discipline; 7–10 years of broad based and progressive responsible financial reporting, control, and accounting experience in a leadership role within the Service Industry.
