WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President, Construction Management engineer for our Indianapolis, IN office. This candidate will be involved in projects with our Construction Management Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
Your Impact
* This role will work on transportation infrastructure construction projects.
Responsibilities include:
* Bring a "best practice" mindset with an eye to constant improvement and quality in delivery of work product including developing comprehensive quality plans and working with independent internal and client quality assurance teams
* Perform marketing and networking activities to develop and maintain strong client relationships, expand work, assist with developing strategic teaming partners
* Deliver medium to large INDOT construction projects as well as local infrastructure projects
* This role may manage one or more construction/field engineers
* Prepare inspection reports and review work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications
* Assist with quality control of field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, and surveying on projects
* Apply diversified knowledge of construction engineering principles and practices and independently make decisions on construction engineering problems
* Review of shop drawings and specifications to assure proper installation of the items in the contract
* Review reports, payroll certifications, and other labor documentation from the contractor.
* Perform review of Contractor's schedules, Baseline and updates, in coordination with client requirements.
* Develop and maintain team inspection standards at high quality level of delivery
* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or relevant field; or equivalent experience/education combination
* Minimum of 10+ years of construction project experience with specific, demonstrated Project Manager / Construction Engineer experience on large projects
* Professional Engineer registration (PE)
* Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives
* Demonstrated team building and verbal/oral skills
* Able to foster collaboration between technical and management teams working from other locations
* Well-defined knowledge of relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements
* Analytical mindset with an ability to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisions
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience
* Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment
* Ability to travel for work when needed
* Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
* Valid state driver's license
* Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with project time sets, estimating and constructability reviews
* Experience leading large transportation construction projects
* Civil infrastructure (roadway/bridge) construction and/or program management experience with medium to large size projects
* Understanding of pursuit management and client relationship building
* Experience with local, state, federal and transit organizations in the state of Indiana
* Experience with eBuilder, Auto Desk Construction Cloud, AASHTOWare Projects, Bentley Infrastructure Cloud
