What You Will Be Doing (Responsibilities sourced from the customer job description)
- Work closely with embedded systems engineers to define tests for HVAC systems.
- Execute the role of a systems test engineer in the product development processes.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, software, and manufacturing engineering teams.
- Coordinate with field trial teams to identify and manage field trial sites.
- Support decisions on testing trade offs between hardware and firmware/software.
- Capture requirements, write test specifications, and define test plans for system verification and validation.
- Perform testing in systems labs and test cells.
- Provide input for project planning (estimates, timelines, capital needs, risks, expenses, etc.).
- Participate in software DFMEAs.
- Document system and functional requirements.
- Help define system and software testing approaches for new products.
- Develop system level test cases and plans.
- Participate in risk identification reviews.
- Demonstrate strong teamwork within a project environment.
- BS/MS in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, or Controls Engineering.
- 2–4 years of systems and software testing experience.
- Experience supporting systems engineering in a cross functional environment.
- Experience with software in the loop tools (MATLAB/Simulink, dSpace).
- Experience with hardware in the loop tools (National Instruments).
- Experience with on equipment testing in test cells.
- Experience conducting real world field trial testing.
- Experience participating in DFMEAs.
- Experience using IBM DOORS, JIRA/Confluence, or Azure Dev Ops.
- Experience defining test plans.
- Understanding of RS 485, CAN, and MODBUS communication protocols.
- Familiarity with C and C++ programming.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to implement continuous improvements.
- Understanding of digital and analog electronic products.
- Experience with 8/16/32 bit microcontrollers.
- Understanding of control systems/algorithm design.
- HVAC controls system experience.
