We are growing our Indianapolis office and this role provides an opportunity to build an engineering team with opportunities for business development in the Indy market.
In this role, you will not only provide technical leadership to project teams who will be working on planning, evaluation, design and implementation of civil engineering projects, but also lead the study-phase and/or design-phase of projects related to the civil, environmental, construction and industrial fields.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Projects:
- Plan projects based on the analysis of relevant materials such as drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, survey reports, maps, and other geologic and topography data.
- Monitor project progress and ensures design specifications and standards are met.
- Assign projects and oversee those assigned for accuracy of work, timeliness of completion, and accurate and timely time entry.
- Write proposals for advanced level projects.
- Positively impact financial metrics of projects.
- Consult with and provide guidance to project stakeholders and managerial staff regarding engineering requirements for construction of various designs, and modifications.
- Collaborate with architects, landscape architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure projects progress properly.
- Collaborate with surveyors (or directs and participates in surveying) to establish installations or reference points, grades, elevations, and other factors that will affect construction.
- Draft and present reports on topics related to projects such as detention reports and engineering due diligence reports.
- Perform calculations for materials, equipment, and labor needed to determine probable construction cost.
- Utilize design software and drawing tools to accurately render and communicate designs; plans and designs other necessary improvement related to type of project assigned.
- Set design specifications by computing appropriate engineering requirements (i.e.
- water flow rates, traffic demand, earth work balance, etc.). - Teach and explain to others the methodologies used by The Company.
- Hire, train, evaluate, assign, discipline assigned staff as necessary.
- Civil Engineering Degree (or related), required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, required, preferably in Indiana
- Advanced understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools.
- Knowledge of state and local regulations for reviewing projects for compliance with regulatory requirements
- Understanding of design (CAD, Civil 3D) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software.
- Basic understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of site and transportation infrastructure improvements.
- Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to be both creative and analytical; extremely detail-oriented and accurate.
- Comfortable with Public speaking
- Ability to assign projects/tasks within projects to the team members in alignment with their abilities.
- Skilled at motivating and leading assigned team members to successful completion of project on time, on budget, and accurately.
