Job Description

Electrical Engineer – Power Systems

Responsibilities
  • Support all types of power systems; typically work with a senior Power Systems Engineer to support project scope.
  • Perform short‑circuit analysis, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.
  • Assist other engineers with all types of power systems and engineering studies.
  • Assist in the gathering of field data and documentation as needed.
  • Support the full range of complex engineering studies including reliability, harmonics, load flow, and reliability‑centered maintenance studies.
  • Assist with the electrical power system documentation including system configuration, equipment ratings, and settings.
  • May support circuit and system measurements and help write reports relating to EMF, electrical load, voltage, and power quality projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of estimates and take‑offs for engineering study project proposals.
  • Gain a working knowledge of computer software and data used in power systems and engineering studies and arrange training for others as needed.
  • Follow and assist in the development of policy and procedures for conducting power system and engineering studies.

Qualifications
  • Graduate Engineer BSEE.
  • Must have taken and passed the FE exam or pass the FE exam within 12 months of hire date.
  • Requires excellent verbal and written skills to communicate effectively with clients, field engineers, peers, and management.
  • Requires mature judgment and responsibility for assigned projects.
  • Requires a high degree of organizational skills.
  • Requires sound grounding in electrical engineering.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to sit and work at the computer. Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements
  • Light lifting (5–25 lb).
  • Medium lifting (30–45 lb).
  • Heavy lifting (over 50 lb).
  • Frequent standing.
  • Frequent kneeling, crawling, stooping.
  • Frequent bending, twisting.
  • Frequent climbing (stairs, ladders).
  • Frequent driving (car, van, truck).
Environmental Demands
  • Extreme cold (below 32°F).
  • Extreme heat (above 100°F).
  • Noise level (medium/high); may need to shout to be heard.
  • Working around moving machinery (forklifts, tractors).
  • Protective equipment required (earplugs, gloves, eyewear, respirator, mask, etc.).
  • Work outdoors; no effective protection from weather.

Salary and Benefits
The anticipated salary range for this role in the Oregon and Colorado locality is $108,150 to $135,188 per year (based on a 40‑hour work week). Salary ranges may vary in other geographic localities. Certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, annual bonuses, and stock options.…
