At PPHS, our educators serve as coaches and mentors. The NNDCC Instructor coordinates and instructs the Naval National Defense Cadet Corps program, guiding cadets in leadership, citizenship, discipline, and academic excellence. This role involves teaching JROTC curriculum, mentoring students, managing program logistics, and fostering strong partnerships with families, school staff, and the community.

The instructor reports to the school principal(s) and collaborates with the CTE Director, military representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure program effectiveness.

Requirements
  • Provide high-quality instruction in accordance with NNDCC/JROTC curriculum and PPHS values.
  • Mentor cadets in leadership, citizenship, and academic growth.
  • Counsel cadets on performance, scholarships, and service academy opportunities.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, requisitions, and records in compliance with JROTC/DoD requirements.
  • Maintain security and accountability for program facilities, arms, and equipment.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Collaborate with PPHS staff to integrate NNDCC experiences into interdisciplinary learning.
  • Assess cadet learning, track progress, and adjust instruction to meet individual/group needs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, and military regulations.
  • Engage in professional learning to improve instructional and leadership practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Retired or former Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard commissioned officer (W-2 to O-6) or non-commissioned officer (E-6 to E-9).
  • Minimum of 5 years documented relevant military service.
  • Eligible for JROTC Instructor Certification and Indiana teaching license with endorsement in JROTC Instruction.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, and build relationships with adolescents.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Work Environment
  • Duties are performed primarily in a school setting.
  • Requires sufficient physical ability to stand, sit, bend, and occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Moderate noise level typical of a school environment.
