Responsibilities- Review design documents and identify cost‑saving or value‑engineering opportunities.
- Develop comprehensive cost estimates for self‑performed and subcontracted work using current software and historical data.
- Solicit, evaluate, and organize subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure complete coverage of project scopes.
- Assist in preparing bid proposals and estimate summaries for presentation to leadership and clients.
- Conduct site visits as needed to assess existing conditions and confirm design assumptions.
- Identify potential risks or constructability concerns and propose mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with Preconstruction and Operations teams to ensure a smooth project handoff.
- Stay informed of trends in construction materials, labor, equipment, and technology.
- Represent Wilhelm with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to quality and teamwork.
- Perform accurate and thorough quantity take‑offs (e.g., import/export, backfill, piping) and organize estimates for ease of comprehension by the end user.
- Bluebeam (or similar) PDF viewer/takeoff software
- Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point
- HCSS Heavy Bid (or similar) estimating software
- Agtek (or similar) earthwork takeoff software
- Primavera P6 (or similar) scheduling software
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of engineering, estimating, or similar experience with mass earthwork, underground utilities, water/wastewater treatment plants, or exposed piping.
- PE license or the ability to obtain one is a plus.
