Bookkeeper - Nonprofit Organization

A mission-driven nonprofit organization is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support daily financial operations and ensure accurate financial recordkeeping. The Bookkeeper will play a critical role in maintaining the organization's financial integrity by managing core accounting functions, supporting reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.

The ideal Bookkeeper will have experience handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activity within a nonprofit or mission-based environment. This Bookkeeper will work closely with leadership to maintain organized financial records, assist with reporting, and help ensure funds are properly tracked across programs and initiatives.

This Bookkeeper will also support the organization's financial transparency by maintaining accurate documentation and assisting with preparation for audits, grant reporting, and internal financial reviews. The successful Bookkeeper will be highly organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple financial tasks in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and payments while maintaining proper documentation
  • Assist with monthly and year-end financial reporting
  • Maintain accurate tracking of program expenses and restricted funds
  • Support payroll processing and related reporting as needed
  • Assist with audit preparation and ensure financial records are organized and compliant
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission-based organization preferred
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Experience with accounting software such as Quick Books or similar systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial recordkeeping
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
