Position Overview:

We are seeking a hands-on Fleet & Driver Compliance Supervisor with a valid CDL to lead truck and trailer inspections and perform road tests on company equipment. This role is heavily field-based and focused on ensuring all tractors and 53’ trailers are DOT-compliant, road-ready, and properly documented. The position works closely with Maintenance, Safety and dispatch to prevent non-compliant equipment from being dispatched

Key Responsibilities:

Truck & Trailer Inspections (Primary Role):

  • Perform and oversee pre-trip, post-trip, yard, and periodic inspections on company trucks and 53’ trailers
  • Conduct road tests to evaluate vehicle performance, braking, steering, and overall safety
  • Inspect brakes, tires, lights, air systems, suspension, coupling devices, and safety equipment
  • Review and manage DVIRs, defect reports, and inspection documentation
  • Tag equipment as road-ready or out-of-service
  • Communicate inspection results clearly to maintenance, dispatch, and operations
  • Track inspection schedules, annual inspections, and compliance status

Fleet & DOT Compliance:

  • Ensure all equipment meets DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Maintain organized inspection and compliance records
  • Assist with Road Tests
  • Identify trends in inspection failures and recommend corrective actions

Driver Oversight & Coordination:

  • Verify drivers are performing proper inspections and DVIRs
  • Conduct equipment orientation and inspection coaching as needed
  • Work with dispatch to ensure only compliant equipment and drivers are dispatched

Requirements:

  • Valid CDL (Required)
  • 2 years experience in truck & trailer inspections, fleet compliance, or safety
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA inspection standards
  • Experience performing road tests on tractors and trailers
  • Comfortable working in a yard and outdoor environment
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
